Recently Southern Living Magazine caught up with Kathryn Peters, founder of Upper King's Seeking Indigo, to gain some insight about King Street's transformation into a bustling thoroughfare of activity. Over the past several years King Street, just north of Calhoun, has seen a dramatic resurgence of bohemian boutiques, trendy restaurants, and neighborhood gastropubs--a stark contrast to a sprawl once littered with unsightly urban decay. Peters has watched Upper King grow into a busy hub of commerce, art, and revolutionary culinary cuisine.
For a special treat Peters has decided to let everyone in on her own favorite local hotspots: For shopping Butterfly (at 482 King Street) offers high end consignment pieces alongside new merchandise. The wonderful staff will be at your service, helping you pull outfits together. For homegoods Lesesne (at 539 King Street) highlights a mix of both modern and classic styles. 
For art the Michael Mitchell gallery (at 438 King Street) showcases contemporary works from regional artisits. For food Fish restaurant (at 442 King Street) chef Nico Cuomo serves up one of the most unique menus in town at more than affordable prices. If you're looking for a more low key spot to relax and take a load off your feet then head over to Juanita Greenberg's (at 439 King Street) to enjoy a few margeritas and some mexican cuisine.
