La Fourchette, 432 King Street, will host a Happy Hour reception for Artist Sybil Fix at Upper King Design District Fall Design Walk October 20 at 5:00 PM. Fix is a graduate of Yale University and Columbia University. She grew up in Tuscany and has lived in Charleston 20 years. She founded the The Terra Project, a program for children that uses food to teach academic disciplines and explore social justice and environmental issues. Raising and painting chickens came out of that educational and creative process.
"I paint my large paintings on butcher paper and the small ones on canvas since paper would be impractical. I paint or finger paint – or a combination of the two – with oils and oil sticks," said Fix. Click here to download Coqs et Coquettes and read more about Sybil Fix.
The colorful paintings are a perfect fit at La Fourchette, Charleston's popular French Bistro that is authentic in charm, decor and cuisine. Stop in during Design Walk, or throughout the weekend to view the exhibition.
