Digital Remedy Repair, 263 King Street, is one of those tucked-away places down a long hallway that, if you didn’t know it was there, you’d never know it was… there. Turns out it’s a great place to have your phone or laptop repaired very quickly and reasonably while you enjoy King Street. Digital Remedy Repair is so successful that Lauren Fairbanks and partner Alex Mouravskiy are opening a third location in Miami. The first was in Monroe, LA. I asked Lauren, given that back-to-school is on everyone’s mind, for a little digital advice. Here are some of her recommendations.
“Invest in a good phone case. A really good one will cost $65 - $85, which is still cheaper than getting your screen replaced after you drop your phone. A lot of good cases like LifeProof and Dog and Bone are waterproof. Water damage is incredibly difficult to diagnose and fix, so that's a great benefit to have. Many case companies warranty their products for life.
“Sign up for a data backup service. Set it up to run in the background so you don't have to worry about it. Google Drive, Microsoft One Drive, iCloud and services like Backblaze are a few. They're cheap, and they can really be a lifesaver if something happens to your computer.
