Spring Brings Fresh New Flavors to Fish's Menu

The new season brings fresh new ingredients to Fish's Spring menu, with dishes that feature local peas, mushroom and asparagus alongside garden herbs like basil and tarragon, bibb lettuce, tamarind and quinoa. Dim Sum highlights include Chef Nico’s clam crème brulee and the lobster roll with spicy pickled celery on coconut brioche. For dinner, try the tilefish with quinoa and fava beans in a truffle mushroom consommé; or, seared scallops over coconut-avocado sushi rice with a sunchoke and fennel quiche. Last Weekend to See PURE Theatre's Play "The Mountaintop"

Don't miss PURE Theatre's play The Mountaintop, winner of the 2010 Olivier Award for Best New Play. Set on April 3, 1968, The Mountaintop is a gripping reimagining of the night before the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

After delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted Dr. King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside. When the hotel maid visits Room 306 with room-service coffee and some surprising news, King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy to his people.

Charleston Encore Entrepreneur Event on Tuesday, April 16

On Tuesday, April 16th, from 8:45am - 11:45am the AARP and U.S. Small Businesses Administration will be hosting an "Encore Entrepreneurs" event for new and aspiring entrepreneurs 50 and over (all ages welcome).

Are you nearing retirement and exploring new opportunities? Or, are you wondering how you will manage once you retire? A growing number of individuals over the age of 50+ are turning to small business ownership and now is the time to explore the possibilities.

The event includes Mentor Matchmaking - connecting entrepreneurs to experts, resources, and successful business owners through one-on-one speed mentoring sessions- and two brief presentations on social media basics and the new health care law's impact on small business.

The Village Repertory Company Presents "The Liar"

“All the worlds a lie, and all the men and women merely liars.” See The Village Repertory Co.'s new production "The Liar" at The Woolfe Street Playhouse, now through April 27th. 

"The Liar" tells the story of Dorante, a charming, handsome pathological liar. When he arrives in Paris, Dorante’s outlandish tales amaze and convince all who hear them. But for each problem his clever lying solves, it creates two new ones. Will he manage to keep his stories straight, his dupes none the wiser and somehow still get the girl? This joyful French farce bursts onto the stage in Broadway playwright David Ives’ sparkling new adaptation.

2013 Charleston Farmers Market Opens Saturday

This Saturday, April 13th kicks off the 2013 Season for the Charleston Farmers Market! Since 1989, the Charleston Farmers Market has supported and featured Lowcountry farmers and growers, artisans, food  vendors, live music, and more! 

Stop by Marion Square at the corner of King & Calhoun Streets and load up on Lowcountry seasonal produce & more. Admission is free. The Farmers Market is open Saturdays from 8:00am - 2:00pm and runs April 13-December 21, 2013.

*Open on select Sundays from 9:00am - 3:00pm during Piccolo Spoleto Festival (May 26, June 2 & 9) and Holiday Magic (December 1, 8 & 15).
