GALLERY CHUMA specializes in the art of the Gullah people of coastal South Carolina as visually portrayed by internationally recognized masters and an innovative select group of emerging artists. including Jonathon Green, John W. Jones, Leroy Campbell, Carol A. Simmons and James Denmark.
GALLERY CHUMA serves as a resource center to learn more about the Gullah culture through Gullah art, books, crafts, storytelling, spirituals, tours and food.
The Gullah people are descendents of enslaved Africans who settled on isolated sea islands and marshland areas from Florida to North Carolina. Because of their geographical isolation, the Gullah have preserved more of their African cultural heritage than any other group of African Americans.
GALLERY CHUMA provides professional framing for all your art needs.
