Stop by La Fourchette during Charleston Restaurant Week January 10th-20th for three courses of heavenly French cuisine for only $30! The menu for the week is as follows:

FIRST COURSE: (Choose one)

• Tomato and Rosemary Soup (served cold)
• Salade of Warm Cheeses

SECOND COURSE:

• Moules Frites (mussles and french fries)
• Boeuf Bourguignon (traditional French beef stew)
• Steak Frites (hangar steak grilled with pommes frites in duck fat)

THIRD COURSE: Profiteroles au Chocolat (vanilla ice cream filled pastries with warm chocolate sauce)

Keeping Up With King St. from the Charleston Mercury

"I did almost all of my holiday shopping on King Street, where else? Got some big wows and some sweet thank you’s, especially from family and friends who got other presents via the internet, delivered in cardboard by UPS with a “personalized” gift card enclosed. I like Amazon; sometimes it’s necessary and it sure is convenient. But nothing is more special or memorable than a hand selected and wrapped gift from one of the ten best shopping streets in the country.

One much appreciated gift to was a Le Creuset French Oven in beautiful Cherry, “a rich gradient of reds ranging from deep maroon to bright scarlet,” according to Le Creuset. I meant well, schlepping it home from King Street to wrap for someone special who is a very good cook, but that night it ended up in my own oven roasting a fat chicken instead. I also love to cook, never had the pleasure of using Le Creuset and simply couldn’t resist. That stuff is wonderful!

Fête de Beaujolais Nouveau 5-Course Wine Pairing at Fish

Like wine? Like delicious French fare? Oui! Then join Fish for a special evening that toasts one of France’s richest winemaking traditions: the century-old Beaujolais Nouveau celebration, marking the success of another year’s harvest.

Fish's own Certified Specialist of Wine and general manager Jodie Battles has partnered with local distributor Advintage to present Charleston’s first taste of limited, high-caliber 2012 crus from the legendary Beaujolais wine region – often overshadowed by the more popular Beaujolais Nouveau. Even better, French Master Chef Nico Romo will serve a five-course French dining menu as you uncover the lively history and unique character of five different Beaujolais wine crus.

"French owner Perig Goulet moves agilely through the petite dining room of this unpretentious bistro. With back-to-back chairs making things cozy (and noisy), this place could be in Paris. Kevin Kelly chooses the wines—predominately French and esoteric, and they befit the authentic fare. Perig boasts of his country pâté, from a recipe handed down from his grand-mère. Other favorites include duck salad, scallops sautéed in cognac, and shrimp in a leek sauce. Dieters may be shocked by the golden frites fried in duck fat and served with aioli, but they keep putting their hungry hands in the basket. Check the blackboard for fish straight off the boats."
