This town is full of artists; you can tell by the number of beautiful local galleries. We are virtually crowded with creativity and the awards garnered by this talented group are far to many to name. Two of my favorites, Rick Reinert and Kevin LePrince, share a gallery and studio at 179 King Street. It’s a fine space that smells of oil paint and canvas where the light bounces around playfully on vibrant colors—both artists are impressionists. There’s one of those inviting courtyards you only find tucked away downtown for further inspiration. Rick and Kevin take theirs from the area’s architecture, flora and fauna, stamping each piece with unique perspectives and techniques.
On Monday, August 25 Rick Reinert will welcome ten fellow artists to a three-day workshop “Bringing Light into Your Paintings.” They will spend two days painting plein air and one from a reference photo, with advice from the master on how to turn work into Work, and creative inspiration from the group. Rick’s workshops always sell out, and knowing the place, the atmosphere and his easy going charisma, participants walk away grateful for the opportunity. There’s a repeat in October and more to come I’m sure.
