Love Song is PURE Theatre's fifth Summer Slam production, and marks the play's Southeast Regional Premiere. Playwright John Kolvenbach boldly introduces us to the ever shrinking world of self-exiled Beane, a man who has little to show that he exists in this world. His sister and her husband try to lure Beane out of his shell but are too caught up in their own busy and complicated lives to have much effect. One night when Beane's apartment is robbed by a mysterious woman, things change and suddenly Beane can see in technicolor. This offbeat comedy follows Beane's adventure into the real world and what it means to love, in all its insane forms.
Love Song will play for four weeks July 13th-August 4th with a pay-what-you-can preview July 12th in PURE Theatre's home at 477 King Street. Every show begins at 7:30 pm with one matinee Sunday, July 22nd at 3:00 pm. Directed by PURE core member R.W. Smith and featuring core ensemble member Michael Smallwood as Harry, Jenny Pringle as Joan, Christian Self as Beane, Carly Sumner Ridgeway as Molly, and Julia Phipps as Jill the Waiter/Stage Manager. Costumes designed by Erin Amelia White.

Sarah Boyts Yoder is a mixed media painter living and working in Charleston, SC. Sarah uses materials ranging from pencil, spray paint, and house paint to pages from vintage coloring books when creating her multilayered, mixed media paintings. A love of color, collage, design and typography drive the search for balance between sophistication and simplicity, cartoon-like expression and eloquent abstraction.

The Charleston RiverDogs are continuing their Tuesday radio shows from years past, but with a different format. New manager Carlos Mendoza and first-year “Voice of the RiverDogs” Sean Houston will sit down together in front of a microphone June 26, July 3, July 10, July 24, & August 28 for “This Week In RiverDogs Baseball.”
The show will be broadcast live from Halls Chophouse in downtown Charleston, and airs on the RiverDogs’ flagship station, ESPN 910 AM.
