On Monday, February 6th, the Charleston Concert Association presents the "Tchaikovsky" St. Petersburg State Orchestra at the Gaillard Auditorium.
Maestro Leontiev, one of Russia’s finest conductors, leads the orchestra for this 2012 performance that is part of its first trans-continental tour of the U.S. Since its establishment in the years following World War II, the “Tchaikovsky” St. Petersburg State Orchestra has become an ensemble with unlimited musical possibilities. The orchestra’s extremely diverse repertoire includes baroque compositions by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel to contemporary compositions by Schnitke, Banshikov, and Desyatnikov to composers of the 20th century including Honegger, Poulenc, and Stravinsky.
Violinist Mikhail Krutik will be featured as soloist at this event. He has been awarded at several of the world’s most prestigious international competitions.
