And, they had us at Hello! From the moment the host opened the door welcoming us in, to the warm thank you as we left, you couldn't feel more at home. The restaurant was packed with families, friends, and couples all enjoying good conversation along with their bloody mary's and mimosas. In the background were the sounds of Sunday morning gospel songs, done beautifully by some very talented soloists. The brunch menu boasts everything from crab eggs benedict and grits to a hamburger and fries. Everything was done to perfection. We decided to sit at the bar and watch some football on the two tv's -- and the bartender was equally as attentive. Again, outstanding experience." Cupcake Will Be In The Pink This October

This October, Cupcake is inviting all of its fans to help build awareness and join in the fight against breast cancer, one cupcake at a time.

For the second consecutive year, Cupcake will be baking special pink cupcakes in October, donating $1 from the sale of each special cupcake to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. They will also promote a pink cherry emblem, which customers can buy for $1 in honor of a survivor or a loved one; all of those proceeds go to the Komen Foundation.

In preparing the September menu for the Farmers Market Dinner, one of The Swamp Fox Restaurant’s specialties, Chef Klatt expertly combines farm fresh sustainable ingredients showcasing Charleston’s locally supplied produce and meats. This month’s menu features:

Michael Mitchell Gallery Artist of the Week: Jamie Blackburn

Jamie Blackburn’s artistic achievement was encouraged at an early age by his family and teachers. He began drawing in elementary school and winning awards for his artistic talent. He went to Lander University to receive a BA in Art and has been a professional visual artist for 20 years.

Oil painting is Jamie’s primary process, but he also enjoys graphic design, sculpture and photography. Inspiration for Jamie’s art comes from many sources. He loves diverse cultural symbolism, experimenting with primitive design methods and modern computer technologies. He enjoys doing research, studying artistic technique and the process of creating interesting visual ideas.

Inspiration comes to Jamie as he explores various aesthetics.  Diversity of style comes from his appreciation for many aesthetic forms. Jamie’s attempt to expand his creative marketability in an ever demanding industry pushes him to stay on the edge of modern design and style.  He enjoys experimenting with color and form and often places elements of cloth and texture on the canvas, sometimes carving lines right into the paint. Jamie loves to layer his pallet allowing small remnant areas of the under painting to show through. He will often paint over a painting he no longer feels describes his mind leaving a little of the former, he calls this process, “colliding ideas.” He believes being diverse and a student of many techniques allows him an opportunity to serve a broad client base.
